Valentine Day Cards

valentine's day cardValentine's day cardvalentine's day cardThe month of February is almost at a close and we thought that we would share some Valentine Day cards with you that we created here at Kim Koch Photography. These are shots of three of our kids that we made up for them to take to school and share with their classmates.  Only two of the kids wanted to bring them to school as the 11 year old decided that he was to old for this (they grow up way to fast, it’s kind of depressing). We also sent digital copies to our family and friends as well.  We hope you enjoy these as much as we enjoyed making them and hope everyone had a fun Valentines Day.

Mother and Son | Family Portrait Photography

Okay, so I am sure that you can see by the green leaves in these photos that I am a little behind on my blogging! I was lucky enough to photograph my beautiful friend and her handsome little man at the end of the summer. I am absolutely in love with this little guy who called me the “pretty lady with the camera”. So young and such a charmer already!

Little B. had quite the collection of toys and loved showing me his favorites.

Then we took a ride to one of our favorite locations and had fun looking for Bambi. :)

Honestly… look at that face…

Thank you so much Aggie and B for a wonderful day! I hope you enjoy your photos.

Senior Portrait Session | Danielle Continued…

I had such a great time with Danielle and we got so many shots… I can’t stop editing!!  Here are a few more.  I hope you enjoy!

Senior Portrait Session-Buckeye Style

I recently had the chance to shoot a senior portrait session with a beautiful senior from the buckeye state (Ohio). My good childhood friend came out to visit us from Ohio and brought her daughter to have her senior pictures taken.  It was so great to see my friend Lori and a real treat to take pictures or her gorgeous daughter Danielle.  Danielle was up for anything and a real joy to work with.  The following are just some of the images that Danielle and her Mom really liked.  Thanks again Lori and Danielle I had a great time and we need to do this again soon.

Absolutely LOVE this jacket!!  Isn’t it GORGEOUS?

Holiday Cards

Hello all, I thought I would make this quick post to remind everyone that the holiday season is going to be upon us before we know it.  This shot is one that we recently took of our good friends Ron and Lindsay and their handsome boys. Ron and Lindsay wanted a shot to put on their Christmas cards, we were honored to be asked to help them make and choose the perfect image.  I know that a lot of people are getting ready during this time of year to have their holiday cards made and wanted to share some thoughts with you that hopefully help make this task easier and more enjoyable.

  • Outfits- choose carefully and make sure that they complement your family and the surroundings the photo will be taken in. Some things to keep in mind, no bright colors and no clothes that are too tight or too loose. Earth tones are always a good choice. If your not sure be sure to check with your photographer who should be able to help you with this.
  • Children- be sure to choose a time that is best if there are small children in the family that will be in the picture. Too close to nap time is never good. Think of a time of day that they are generally the happiest. Also leave time to let them get comfortable with your photographer if they haven’t met him/her before or if its been a while since they have seen him/her.
  • Location- This is a personal decision that you and your family need to decide on with your photographer. Will it be your beautiful home? A nice park like the one in the image above? Or maybe a studio shot with a traditional background?

These are just some of the things that should be considered when deciding on your holiday cards. We like to think that if you choose a reputable professional photographer that they should be able to help you with all of these decisions and others that you may not even have thought of.  Will you be able to get everything you want at a chain portrait studio? Maybe, but many of the items listed above that contribute to a successful holiday portrait or any portrait might not be possible at one of the chain studios. (picking the time for your portrait, personal clothing consultation, extra time in the schedule for your children to get comfortable with the whole process)You decide. As always we would love to perform this service for you or your family here at Kim Koch Photography but even if you choose another option for your holiday cards please feel free to contact us with any questions that we may be able to help you out with.

Agatha and Her Prince | New Jersey Family Photographer

This is one of my favorites from a photoshoot with my super sweet and absolutely gorgeous friend and her little prince, B.

Thank you, Aggie, for letting us spend the morning with you and B.  We loved catching up and look forward to seeing you again soon!!  xoxo

Photo Clubs

Our local photography club started up again recently and it has been great to see all of our friends  and catch up with what they have been shooting over the summer. Our most recent club meeting was a competition night where the members have a chance to enter photographs in different categories (Nature and Pictorial) and have them judged.  It is always an interesting evening and an important part of learning to become better photographers.  It was a special meeting for us here at Kim Koch Photography as our 17 year old daughter joined the club this year and began submitting images for competition.  The Koch family did fairly well with Mommy (Kim) getting a first place in the advanced pictorial class,  Daddy (Walt) getting a second place in the advanced pictorial class and Breelan getting a fourth place in the beginner class. The Hill Crest Camera Club is an important part of us growing as photographers and striving to become better at our craft.

This was Kim’s image of a beautiful newborn that we shot for some clients of ours recently. She was such a doll and we were very happy that her parents chose us to photograph her.

Senior Portait

Snake Lady

This was an image of our beautiful teenage daughter Breelan that her dad shot during a recent shoot for her senior portraits. We had a great time with her and will post more of her shots from this shoot soon.

This is the shot that our daughter entered into the competition and won fourth place with. It is a photo of Chinese fighting fish (Betas) at a local pet store. Needless to say we are very proud of her.  We hope you enjoyed these photos and had as much fun looking at them as we had making them.

Senior Portrait Photographer

I wanted to give you a sneak peek of my beautiful daughter’s senior photoshoot.  We had a wonderful time at an awesome location (Thanks Patrick!)!  I can’t wait to edit the rest of them!  I hope you enjoy!!

County Fairs and Hot Air Balloons

It’s that time of the year again.  We recently went to our local county fair with the children and had a great time. While there we saw all kinds of things to take photos of. There was also hot air balloons that launched at the same time every night. (weather permitting) Talk about a captive audience for photography! Well here are some of the shots that we got of the hot air balloon festival at our local county fair. We hope you enjoy them and get a chance to visit your local fair as well.

Love His Smile! <3

I just had to share this picture that I took of my son a couple of days ago.  It was another one of our 90 degree days, we were on our way home from visiting hubby at work.  We crossed over this river and it looked so cool and inviting.  When I asked the kids if they would like to stop and play for a while they all three agreed (which is something that rarely, if ever, happens) that it sounded like a wonderful idea!  Out of all of the images I took that day, this is the one I keep going back to.  I love it for so many reasons.  I love the pure joy that I see on his face.  I don’t even remember what he was laughing at, probably his brother was doing something crazy, but I can hear his wonderful belly laugh every time I look at this.  I think the thing that stands out the most to me is that he, all of a sudden, looks like such a big boy.  He has lost a couple of teeth recently which has allowed room for those big front teeth to really start coming in.  He no longer looks like my baby boy… he is one of the big kids now.

Family Photo Shoot

The Smith Family

We recently had the pleasure of taking photos of our friends family. Phil and Megan brought their two beautiful children to one of our favorite places to take pictures of families. The weather was good (though a bit sunny for photography) and the kids were good sports especially since they were so young. Thanks again to our good friends Phil and Megan for allowing Kim Koch Photography to photograph this handsome family.

Spring Haircut

Profile, Black and white, Haircut, Spring
Spring, haircuts, Child portraits, Black and WhiteThis is one of our boys, he decided the other day that he needed a haircut so we loaded him and the rest of the gang up to get haircuts.  As you can see he is a bit crazy unique in his choice of hairstyles but then again that’s just him.  This is just one of the many signs of Spring that occur in our house, what are some of the signs of Spring in yours?
